Bodywork

Julie Lefmann has been a continuously practicing Certified Massage Therapist since 2001, specializing in the highest quality Prenatal and Postnatal Massage, Induction Massage, Hawai’ian Lomilomi, Deep Tissue, and more. She has offered on-site massage, or mobile massage (in clients’ homes, vacation homes, offices…) since 2001 in the Santa Cruz area, and has massage offices in Campbell & Santa Cruz. Julie has also done corporate massage at the Watsonville Whole Foods office and at Google.

Julie enjoys using acupressure (sometimes to stimulate labor), long, yummy strokes to relax and nurture, passive stretching, deep tissue, and more. She is deeply attuned to energy and breath, and has a sensitive, nurturing presence.

Although Julie is well-known for being an excellent Prenatal and Postnatal Massage Therapist, she works on every type of body, and you certainly don’t need to be pregnant or postpartum to receive bodywork. Besides offering traditional massage, Julie is also a Certified Watsu Practitioner (warm-water meditation/massage) and a Reiki Practitioner (energy healing). Ask her about both!

It was an honor for Julie to study Lomilomi with Aunty Margaret on the Big Island, and also with two other Lomilomi teachers in California. She studied extensively at Harbin Hot Springs School of Watsu & Massage, and is so grateful for the privilege to have studied there with such world-renowned teachers as Harold Dull and Shantam. Julie also studied bodywork at the McKinnon Institute in Oakland, Twin Lakes in Santa Cruz, and Chico Therapy & Wellness.

Services

 Hawaiian Lomilomi

An ancient Hawaiian massage, patterned after the rhythms of the ocean. Lomilomi is a nurturing, flowing, gentle but invigorating “massage hula,” done with lots of forearm work and long, continuous strokes.

CBD Massage

CBD Massage has been gaining in popularity in recent years for good reason. Research has shown that it can reduce inflammation, soothe muscles, and have a positive effect on pain, anxiety, and sleep. My locally made CBD massage oil of choice features a combination of six herbs along with the organic hemp CBD (no THC), & and it is high in antioxidants.

Swedish

This classic method soothes sore muscles, while leaving the client relaxed.

Deep Tissue

This is an intense massage to specific areas that store chronic pain and tension. Can reduce pain, inflammation, and spasms, and can be combined with Swedish.

Prenatal, Induction, and Postpartum Massage

The side-lying technique uses pillows & a wedge to make sure that mothers-to-be are comfortable during their Prenatal Massage. This massage helps relieve discomfort related to pregnancy. It also aids in facilitating transitions through support and physical nurturing, while fostering maternal touch. Induction massage is offered from 38 weeks on and includes acupressure points to try to stimulate labor. Postpartum Massage is so very important for so many reasons, emotionally and physically. Mobile massage is great for Postnatal Massage.

Reiki

Reiki, pronounced “ray-key,” is a Japanese word that means “universal life force energy.” My hands are placed in various positions on the body to transmit this energy and allow the body to heal itself. Reiki can be combined with any other massage, and is a great way to rebalance and energize ourselves. Trained in 2004 by Reiki Master Chelsea VanKoughnett, The Reiki Alliance.
