With My Own Two Hands was born in late 2001, when Julie Lefmann became a Certified Massage Therapist. She has also been both a Certified Watsu Practitioner (Warm-Water Meditation Massage) and a Reiki Practitioner (energy healing) since 2004. Julie practiced as a Birth Doula for 12 years and attended well over 200 births but retired as a full-time doula in January of 2018.
A Triple Pisces, Julie is very much a water-baby and this informs her bodywork. Her fluid-like movement is a combination of Hawaiian Lomilomi (patterned after the ocean) and Deep Tissue. She is a highly skilled therapist both on land and in the water. Julie has specialized in Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage, Prenatal Massage, and Postnatal Massage for over two decades, as well as Induction Massage. She worked as a prenatal and postnatal massage therapist at a birth resource center for nearly 8 years but left in the Spring of 2018 and opened her own massage offices in Campbell & Santa Cruz, CA.
Julie grew up in South San Jose, and lived in Santa Cruz from 2002 until 2024. Julie made the move to Maui in October of 2024. She earned a B.A. from Chico State in 2001 before starting on the healing arts path. When she’s not working, Julie loves to swim in the ocean, take beach walks, travel often, cook, bake, juice, garden, take photographs, sing, play guitar, write, see live music and comedy shows, and love on every dog she meets. The dog pictured is Scuba, who lived to be almost 16 & is the Love of Julie’s life.
